Trump Downplays Arrest of US Soldier Betting on Maduro, Allies Support Pardon
BroadChain, April 26, 13:06 - The U.S. Department of Justice has indicted Special Forces soldier Gannon Ken Van Dyke, accusing him of using classified intelligence to place bets on the prediction platform Polymarket regarding U.S. military operations in Venezuela, illegally profiting over $400,000.
Trump previously criticized war betting, stating that market trading had deviated from normal logic. However, upon learning that the soldier had bet on Maduro's ouster, he compared it to baseball star Pete Rose betting on his own team to win, saying, "It would be bad if he bet on himself to lose." Several Trump allies believe the soldier should be pardoned.
