XRP Ledger (XRPL) has made significant progress in the real-world asset (RWA) sector, with its asset scale approaching $19 billion and surpassing Solana in the global RWA rankings. This achievement highlights XRPL's growth momentum in the asset tokenization field, reflecting the market's demand for efficient, low-cost, and scalable blockchain infrastructure.
Analysis indicates that XRPL's surpassing of Solana is more based on genuine institutional adoption momentum rather than speculative hype. Although XRPL falls short of Solana in programmability and Canton in privacy, its newly launched TokenEscrow custody feature is seen by experts as a transformative development, enabling clear management of the holding and release of tokenized assets. Combined with Flare Networks' computational layer, XRPL has the potential to build a compliant and yield-generating future for RWAs.
Meanwhile, Ripple Labs announced a multi-phase plan aimed at preparing XRPL for the post-quantum computing era, with the goal of achieving full readiness by 2028. The plan includes four stages: post-quantum recovery, forward planning and experimentation, exploring post-quantum primitives, and a comprehensive transition to post-quantum signatures. This initiative aims to safeguard the value of existing digital assets while securely migrating this global financial infrastructure.
