Kelp DAO Responds to Cross-Chain Bridge Security Incident, Questions LayerZero's Responsibility Attribution

BroadChain learned that at 00:00 on April 21, according to TechFlow, in response to LayerZero attributing the cross-chain bridge vulnerability involving approximately $290 million worth of rsETH to Kelp DAO, the latter refuted the claim on April 20. Kelp DAO pointed out that the compromised single validator configuration relied on LayerZero's own infrastructure, and this configuration was part of its default access solution, not a special choice made by Kelp DAO against recommendations. The attacker stole approximately 116,500 rsETH by taking control of the server used by LayerZero to validate cross-chain transactions and interfering with backup nodes. Kelp DAO emphasized that this incident only affected the bridging layer based on LayerZero, and its core liquidity restaking contracts were not impacted.
